Adelyn Bendorf

Jim Ogle Meridian Symphony Orchestra

Adelyn Bendorf has taken joy in music for as long as she can remember, playing her first songs on the piano at age two. She has participated in numerous recitals, concerts and competitions ever since.

Adelyn has played flute in both the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra and the Boise Youth Philharmonic. In January of 2020, she was awarded top flute honors in the West through the Royal Conservatory of Music, and was selected to perform a flute solo in the Celebration of Excellence Recital at USC. That same year she performed as a flutist with the Los Angeles Youth Philharmonic.

Upon moving to Idaho, Adelyn began flute studies with Melanie Keller and took 2nd place in the Atlanta Flute Competition in 2021.  She also was a first place winner in the Boise Bach Festival and in Meridian Symphony’s 2022 Concerto Competition, for both flute and piano categories. She won first place in the branch Music Teachers Association Sonatina Festival for piano in the fall of 2022. Most recently she received the top award through Boise Tuesday Musicale, a local organization devoted to the arts.

Adelyn has played in the flute section of the Boise Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.  This past March Adelyn was the featured piano soloist with the Meridian Symphony, performing Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in D Minor under the baton of Maestro James Ogle.

Ashlyn Bendorf

Ashlyn Bendorf has loved music her entire life. She started playing piano as soon as she could reach the keys, taking formal lessons with her mom and dad starting at age four. At age eight she began clarinet lessons and was soon accepted into the College of the Canyons Orchestra and Novae Symphony where she held the principal position. Ashlyn gave her first solo piano recital at age 10, performing the entire collection Two- Part Inventions of J.S. Bach, as well as pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, and Bartok.

Ashlyn has always enjoyed performing and playing in competitions; she was a semi-finalist in the International Lansum Piano Competition; she won top prize in the Los Angeles district CAPMT Romantic Competition in 2019. She was also a prize winner in the the CAPMT State Honors Competition, the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, and the Young Artist Division of the Sonatina Festival, held at Boise State University. In 2022 she was first place medalist in the Boise Bach Festival.

In 2020 and 2021 Ashlyn was a featured soloist with the Los Angeles youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Her performances in the virtual concert series included Mozart and Max Bruch concertos. Most recently Ashlyn was soloist for the world premier of Adam Liptak’s Double Piano Concerto with the LAYPO in a live performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall during the 2023 season.

Ashlyn is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Music degree in piano performance at Boise State University.

About

Hello, we are Adam & Anna Bendorf. We first met at a piano audition on Valentines Day.  We traded email addresses that serendipitous day, and the rest is history!  Fast-forward to today... we are happily married with three wonderful children.  Church life and beautiful music fill our home on a daily basis.  We  believe that music is a gift to mankind from God; that to enjoy music is to experience a small glimpse of God's enormous creativity. We sincerely want for you to enjoy music as we have enjoyed music!

We take a devoted interest in each of our students. Our students have won awards at the local, regional, and state level.  As performers our students have been featured as concerto soloists, have performed in the U.S. and abroad, and have gone on to become career musicians.

Titus and Pepper like piano music, too.

Boring Stuff…

Adam and Anna both have degrees in piano performance, from The Master’s University and from University of Oregon, respectively. They have been awarded scholarships, awards, and honors, and enjoy performing piano duet literature as a team.

The Bendorfs have served as officers for multiple music non-profits, serving in multiple roles. In 2021 they founded the Boise Bach Festival, an event that features piano, organ, strings, and woodwind performances of J.S. Bach’s solo and chamber music. Until recently they owned and operated Alberti Publishing, a digital sheet music business. They co-authored The Right Notes, a music history teaching aid. Anna’s music album reviews can be found in the journal, TD Monthly. As a collaborative pianist she has worked with various voice, string, and wind performers, playing for finalists in high-level competitions and working with recitalists at the collegiate level.

Adam has served as adjunct faculty at The Master’s University, recently finished arranging a set of Christmas carols for intermediate and advanced-level piano. The Bendorfs currently adjudicate various competitions and festivals in the area.
